Chhattisgarh Naxal Encounter: Reward of Rs 50,000,00 Shankar and Lalita Maoist were killed, search operation is still going on

BSF’s biggest operation against Naxalites was successful in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker. On April 16, BSF killed 29 Naxalites in the encounter between BSF and Naxalites. Shankar Rao and Lalita were also killed by the BSF forces in this encounter. Shankar Rao and Lalita were senior commanders of the Naxalites who were killed by the BSF forces. Shankar Rao was the biggest and most influential commander of the Naxalites and was also the Military Intelligence Chief of his division. The government had announced a reward of Rs 25 lakh on Shankar Rao and Rs 25 lakh on Lalita. 15 female Naxalites and 14 male Naxalites have been killed in this anti-Maoist operation.

A statement was given by BSF that 3 security personnel were injured in this encounter. The anti-Maoist operation was launched on the evening of 15th April. In two teams, around 200 BSF (Border Security Force) and DRG (Kanker District Reserve Guard) personnel were sent to Kanker in Chhattisgarh. 29 died in the encounter, and a large quantity of AK-47, Carbine 303, SLR, and INSAS have been found from the Naxalites, The search is still going on.

This entire operation against Naxalites was carried out under the leadership of Inspector Laxman Kewat, who is known as an encounter specialist. Laxman Kewat has been honored with many Gallant Awards and Presidential Awards.

Home Minister Amit Shah said on anti-Maoist operation that “I wish the speedy recovery of the brave police personnel who have been injured. Naxalism is the biggest enemy of development, peace and the bright future of the youth. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, in the last three months, more than 80 Naxalites have been killed in Chhattisgarh, more than 125 have been arrested and more than 150 Naxalites have surrendered. We are determined to free the country from Naxalism. Due to the offensive policy of the government and the efforts of the security forces, today Naxalism has been reduced to a small area. Soon Chhattisgarh and the entire country will be Naxal free.

BSF has conducted anti-Maoist operation against Naxalites in Chhattisgarh, it is the biggest success because not a single soldier has been killed in it. Earlier in November 2021, C60 unit of police had killed 26 Naxalites in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra in which 3 soldiers were killed. This was the second biggest operation against Naxalites.
