Masood Azhar: mastermind of the 2001 Indian Parliament terrorist attack, is safe in Pakistani custody

22 years after the dastardly attack on Parliament on December 13, 2001, Jaish-e-Mohammed chief Masood Azhar, the mastermind of the terrorist plot, is currently being held in deep security custody in Islamabad, Pakistan. 55 year old Masood Azhar is a Pakistani terrorist.

Azhar had used Jaish-e-Mohammed cadre to carry out brutal terrorist attacks in India, including the Pulwama attack and the Ayodhya, Ram Janmabhoomi site attack on 5 July 2005. He also conspired to attack CRPF personnel on February 14, 2019.

On January 3, 2016, he directed the attack on the Indian Consulate in Mazar-e-Sharif, Afghanistan. He is a close associate of al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and has ties to the Taliban.
