“On September 1st, Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story is available on SonyLIV. The second part of the Scam franchise is directed by Tushar Hiranandani, with Hansal Mehta, the creator of the popular web series Scam 1992. This online series, based on Sanjay Singh’s Telgi Scam: Reporter’s Diary, will be broadcast on SonyLIV. Let’s know more about Abdul Karim Telgi.
Telgi experienced several difficulties in his early years. Telgi’s father, an employee of the Indian Railways, passed away while he was a small boy. He peddled produce on trains to pay for his studies. Telgi eventually traveled to Saudi Arabia, but after seven years he returned with counterfeiting as his new occupation. Telgi, who was born in 1961, lived a life marked by ambition, modesty, and crime that culminated in a counterfeit empire that rocked the nation’s financial systems.
Telgi initially concentrated on producing passports. To assist the export of labor to Saudi Arabia, he also founded a company named Arabian Metro Travels. In the business, “pushing” refers to the production of fictitious paperwork that permits workers to avoid immigration checks.
Telgi soon shifted his focus, though, to a more lucrative business: making fake stamp paper. To market these fakes items to banks, insurance companies, and stock brokerage businesses, he hired 300 agents. This operation had an astounding scope and was worth over 32,000 crores.
There were numerous police officers and government representatives involved in this affair because it was so large. Ultimately, in 2006, Telgi was given a harsh 30-year prison term. He was given a second 13-year term in 2007 and was also required to pay a 202 crore fine.
Telgi was renowned for leading a lavish lifestyle that frequently involved going to dance bars. Even that he had a soft spot for bar dancer Tarannum Khan. According to rumors, Telgi’s life ended suddenly in 2017 due to meningitis as a result of long-standing health problems like diabetes,AIDS and high blood pressure. Abdul Karim Telgi was ultimately a complex person with humble beginnings who established an empire on shaky moral ground.
